Chapter One
The problem we couldn't ignore
Across Tanzania and East Africa, brilliant students walk away from education every year —
not for lack of talent, but for lack of school fees, mentors, and information about the
opportunities that exist beyond their village or ward. We watched classmates with the
sharpest minds leave school to work, and we asked a simple question: what would it take
for none of them to be left behind?
"Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not — yet."
Chapter Two
Starting with what we had
The answer started small: study circles after class, hand-copied scholarship lists,
older students walking younger ones through applications. Those informal sessions became
the Walkthrough Mentorship. The clubs that formed around them became the United Clubs
Fellowship. The push to remove cost barriers grew into our Free Education Access program.
Nothing about it was glamorous — but it worked. Students stayed in school. Applications
that would never have been written won scholarships. And every scholar who was helped
turned around and helped the next one.
Chapter Three
Becoming a movement
Today Projectunite Scholar reaches students across Tanzania, Burundi, the Democratic
Republic of Congo, and Mozambique. We run mentorship cohorts, publish the
Dare To Dream Big guidebook,
organize essay competitions and community outreach, and build a digital learning platform
so that distance is no longer a barrier.
The heart of it has never changed: scholars lifting scholars. Every mentor in our network
was once a mentee. Every success story becomes a roadmap for the next student.
