Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026
Projectunite Scholar ("Projectunite", "we", "us") is an educational movement dedicated to making
quality education accessible. This policy explains what personal information we collect through
projectunite-scholar.org — including the scholars
platform, member accounts, learning portal, volunteering and donation services — how we use it,
and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information — when you register we collect your name, email address,
and password (or your Google account identity if you sign in with Google).
- Profile information — details you choose to add, such as age, location,
headline, bio, education interests, and preferred programs.
- Membership information — your chosen membership level and participation in
programs, courses, quizzes, and certificates.
- Applications and forms — information submitted through volunteering
applications, essay competition entries, contact forms, and newsletter subscriptions.
- Donation details — when you donate or fundraise, we receive your name,
contact details, and donation amount. Card and mobile-money processing is handled by our
payment providers; we do not store full payment credentials.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, collected
through analytics services.
- Cookies and similar technologies needed for sign-in sessions, preferences, and analytics.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account, profile, and membership.
- To deliver our programs — mentorship, courses, quizzes, XP and certificates.
- To process donations and issue acknowledgements.
- To respond to enquiries and review volunteer or competition applications.
- To send service messages and, with your consent, newsletters (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- To keep the platform safe, prevent abuse, and improve our services.
3. Where your data lives
Your ProjectUnite ID (account, profile, CV, certificates), event registrations, volunteer and
competition applications are stored in a MySQL database on our web hosting provider (Hostinger).
Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your
name, email address and profile picture from Google and nothing else; we never see your Google
password. The separate learning portal (/learn) may use Google Firebase for its own sign-in; see
Firebase's privacy documentation.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us operate (hosting, analytics, payment processing), bound by
their own privacy obligations;
- Authorities, where required by applicable law;
- Program partners, only where you explicitly apply to a partnered opportunity.
Students & minors: our programs serve young people. If you are under 18,
please use the platform with the knowledge of a parent or guardian. We collect only the
information needed to run our educational programs, and a parent or guardian may contact us at
any time to review or delete a minor's data.
5. Your rights and choices
- Access, update, or correct your profile at any time from your account pages.
- Request a copy or deletion of your data by contacting us — we will respond within 30 days.
- Unsubscribe from newsletters using the link in any email.
- Disable cookies in your browser (some features, like staying signed in, may stop working).
6. Security & retention
We use industry-standard safeguards including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords,
HttpOnly session cookies, and access-controlled databases. We keep personal data only as long as your
account is active or as needed to meet legal and reporting obligations, then delete or
anonymize it.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services grow. Material changes will be announced on this page
with an updated date above.
8. Contact us
Questions or requests about your data: reach us through our
contact page, by phone at +255 784 953 866,
